Imogen joined the group as an undergrad at Heriot-Watt, and started her PhD in October 2019. She is developing technology to track light as it travels in air – a process known as light-in-flight imaging.

Stirling joined the group in 2020. His PhD project is on data fusion approaches for high-speed tracking and identification of objects using 3D time-of-flight technology.

German is a visiting scholar from The University of Edinburgh. His PhD is on using high-speed single-photon detector array sensors for object detection. The technology he is developing could be used in the next generation of autonomous vehicles.

Max started his PhD in October 2018. He is developing optical networks for image identification at the single-photon level. This technology can be used in optical computation and quantum communication.

Megan Agnew

PhD thesis: The spatial state of non-interacting photons. Megan is currently working for STMicroelectronics.

Eliot Bolduc

PhD thesis: Inverse problems in quantum mechanics. Eliot is currently studying how machine learning can be used in quantum mechanics.

Susan Chan

Susan’s PhD was on using single-photon detection technology for seeing through scattering media and for looking around corners.

Ryan Warburton

Ryan now works at Photon Force, developing the next generation of single-photon detector arrays.

Fransesco Tonolini

Francesco is now studying for a PhD in machine learning at the University of Glasgow.

Lauren Reid

Lauren is currently studying for a PhD in infra-red detector development at the University of Southampton.

Emily Badsvik

Emily studied for a Masters in physics at Imperial College London. She is now studying for a PhD at ETH in Zurich.

Natapon Harnchaiwat

Natapon joined us as a summer student in 2019. He is now studying for his medical degree in Thailand.

Michael Jolly

Michael joined us for his fourth year project looking at 3D Schlieren imaging and turbulence.

Rachel Sansom

Rachel did her final year project in the group. She is currently studying for a PhD in atmospheric modelling at the University of Leeds.
